Riccardo Perfetti (pictured below), Sanofi’s VP Medical Affairs and Head of the DCV Global Medical Team, has reportedly left Sanofi to serve as the CMO of Applied Therapeutics. Perfetti had been with Sanofi since October 2007.

Merck and its partner Healthy Interactions launched a newly updated unbranded digital diabetes app called Map4health. Previously, the app was available with fewer features under the name “Conversation Map.” Interestingly, the platform can be used by both patients and HCPs; however, Merck and Healthy Interactions are primarily marketing the platform to HCPs with the intent to drive patient uptake through HCP recommendations. Novo announced (press release) the acquisition of Ziylo, a small incubator company based out of the University of Bristol developing synthetic glucose binding molecules. The purchase of Ziylo aligns with Novo’s strategic goal of developing glucose responsive insulin.

Of note, Novo disclosed it will be launching Ozempic in Europe with 3 pens (0.25mg for titration as well as 0.5 and 1.0mg for treatment) as compared to 2 pens in the US. Lilly announced the availability of its new “Lilly Diabetes Solution Center helpline” to assist patients in finding appropriate programs to make insulin treatments more affordable. Of note, Sanofi has recently updated the name of its efpeglenatide CVOT to “AMPLITUDE-O.” Pfizer did not discuss its Steglatro (ertugliflozin) franchise; however, in the pipeline update, it was noted that PF-06342674 (IL-7 receptor precursor modulator) for the treatment of T1DM has been discontinued.
