Adocia has announced a partnership with Tonghua Dongbao Pharmaceuticals for the development and commercialization of BioChaperone Combo (lispro+glargine) and BioChaperone Lispro. The partnership agreement is said to cover China and other designated countries.

Livongo partners with Cambia Health Solutions and raises $105M

Livongo announced a new $105M round of funding and a new strategic partnership. The new funding round brings the total capital raised by Livongo to $243.2M. The new strategic collaboration with Cambia Health Solutions will focus on improving personalized health care for patients with chronic conditions and brings on a new investor named Echo Health Ventures.

Lilly invests in beta cell encapsulation development

Lilly and Sigilon Therapeutics announced a collaboration to develop encapsulated beta cell therapies for the potential treatment of T1DM. While other beta cell therapies have remained in early stages of development, Lilly’s financial support and considerable resources greatly increase the likelihood of Sigilon’s therapy advancing.

Dexcom displays representation of Lilly connected insulin pen

It was reported on Twitter that at ATTD 2018, Dexcom displayed a slide (pictured below) showing a representation of a smart insulin pen. Additionally, Dexcom presented information on the “fully enhanced Dexcom G6 CGM system” including “Urgent Low Soon Alerts.”

JDRF partners with Korean patch pump manufacturer

JDRF announced a partnership with EOFlow, a South Korean medical device company, to develop a patch pump automated insulin delivery system. EOFlow currently has two diabetes pipeline products including a wearable insulin pump-only (EOPatch) and an artificial pancreas system (EOPancreas).

Lilly: Thoughts on Connected Diabetes Ecosystem

Lilly disclosed major announcements about its diabetes connected care strategy, including intentions to develop an in-house automated insulin-delivery (AID) device as well as a wireless smart pen injection device. As a part of this endeavor, Lilly has engaged in collaborations with Deka R&D Corp., CGM-manufacturer Dexcom, and acquired Montreal-based algorithm startup Class AP. In light of these developments, Lilly has indicated plans to initiate trials by YE 2017 and has suggested it will take 2-3 years for these new devices to reach the market.
